Shady Grove Church at Night
Near Osage, Arkansas
Shady Grove is one of my favorite historic churches in Arkansas to photograph due to the unique bell tower with the bell actually still intact. In the past, I have photographed this place in the spring and fall, but always tried to find a more unique way or time to make an image that would emphasize the building and tower. In this night image, I used the early light of a full moonrise to sidelight the church and the deep blue, clear night sky as a backdrop for the most important component of the scene, the bell tower.
