Magnolia Falls (NEW)
Upper Buffalo Wilderness, Arkansas
Magnolia Falls is not the tallest or grandest waterfall in Arkansas, but what it might lack in size or drama it makes up for in tranquil beauty as it spills over one ledge just to fan out over another as the waters disperse into the pool below. As I get older, I find myself more and more attracted to the less dramatic scenes like this one. I had intended to photograph the falls in color from a distance down stream, but did not find the composition I was looking for. In the end, I kept finding myself drawn to the falls and the rock directly around it. In black and white, the waterfall stands out well from the darker rock but is balanced by the lighter boulders to the left.
