Hemmed-In Hollow Waterfall

Buffalo National River, Arkansas

HemmedIn

Rarely does the Buffalo River receive enough rain in autumn to cause this 210 feet tall waterfall to flow like this. I had wished that the color had been further along, but had to make an image of this rare event while I had the opportunity.  I have always been as drawn to the beauty of the bluff as the falls themselves, so I decided to frame the scene with the falls to the left, spilling into the scene, with the bluff sweeping off to the right and early fall foliage below.  I also used a faster shutter speed, 1/5 second, to help record the "ribbon effect" of the falls.
