Ozark National Forest, Arkansas
These falls are actually located downstream from a larger waterfall called Longpool. On this day, I had planned to photograph the larger waterfall, but found myself more attracted to the details of this cascade such as the layers of rock, water details and green mosses. After making several looser compositions, I decided to use a telephoto to tightly isolate the key features of the scene. Also, the day was clear and sunny, so I waited for the even light of dusk before I made this image.
