Davies Bridge over Cedar Creek

Petit Bridge

Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas

This beautiful bridge at Petit Jean State Park is an excellent example of structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in Arkansas during the mid 1930's.  After many thunderstorms moved through the area, Cedar Creek was muddy and swollen.  Using a wide angle lens, I decided to focus more on the character of the bridge with its mosses, colors and textures making it the dominant component of the composition rather than the waterfall and creek.  Even in its dominant roll, I liked the way the bridge frames the waterfall creating a space within a space.
