Pueblo Bonito at Chaco Canyon
Chaco Culture National Historical Park, New Mexico
The ruins at Chaco Canyon have been said to be as significant to the North American continent as the Pyramids are to Africa. This ruin, Pueblo Bonito, represents the center of worship and culture for a civilization that lasted from the mid 800's to around 1100 to 1200 AD when its significance began to decline. In this composition, I placed the edge of a kiva in the foreground with the ruins and canyon wall in the background. At sunset, a warm, storm light illuminated the scene giving the elements a golden hue.
