Bear Lake and Hallett Peak
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
I made this image on the last day of a week long vacation in Rocky Mountain National Park. After unsuccessfully photographing the nearby Dream Lake several mornings, I decided to drive up Bear Lake Road to have one last look at Bear Lake before heading home to Arkansas. When I arrived, I found the area covered in a heavy frost. I decided to compose the image with the three large boulders in shadow as the foreground due to there strong triangular shapes and contrast compared to the mountains in the distance.
