Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri

With an average daily flow of 286 million gallons of water, Big Spring is one of the largest springs in America and the world.  In addition, this spring's waters carry roughly 70 tons of dissolved limestone a day, giving these rapids their unique blueish hue.  This composition of the rapids and moss covered rocks just below the source of the spring was made just before a powerful thunderstorm reached the area.  This new image was made April 21, 2015.
