Yankee Boy Basin, San Juan National Forest, Colorado
Yankee Boy Basin has one of the most amazing alpine wildflower seasons anywhere. For this image, I positioned my camera close to the Indian Paintbrush with a wide angle lens. To be this close, I actually had to let the waterfall in the background fall slightly out of focus, not having enough depth of field. Due to the wind, I made many exposures over the course of about an hour and a half to get an image with the blooms perfectly still.
