Nature photography in Arkansas can be extremely challenging, and yet Arkansas is one of the most rewarding areas to photograph in the country when a truly special image is made. I feel fortunate to produce just a small handful of special images in a given year.

This image of the Davies Bridge at Petit Jean State Park was made after an unsuccessful trip to the swamp areas of southeast Arkansas. On the way home, I decided to stop at this beautiful park knowing that several severe thunderstorms had moved through the area, raising the levels of many creeks and streams along the Arkansas river valley during an unusually dry season. The rumble of distant thunder from another approaching storm signified the end of my time.... I was lucky to have recorded the "moment."

The following pages contain many images from near my home in Arkansas as well as across America that represent "moments in time." I hope these will encourage the viewer to take notice, respect and protect our wilderness as they have me. Enjoy.
